Real-time SOS routing for electric vehicles

Features

  • SOS trigger fires a Cloud Function that scores accident severity (0–100) from vehicle telemetry.
  • Geospatial distance picks the nearest available responder and dispatches automatically.
  • Live map renders SOS events and responder positions via Firestore subscriptions.
  • Two distinct dashboards (EV driver vs emergency responder) on one event stream.

System Design & Architectural Pattern

Serverless event-driven setup. The React frontend writes to Firestore; Cloud Functions handle the business logic in the background.

Severity

Vehicle telemetry. Speed delta, airbag, impact angle. Feeds a scoring function that outputs 0–100. A score over 70 triggers automatic dispatch; lower scores wait for human confirmation.

Dispatch

Responder positions live in Firestore with a geohash. Nearest-available wins. State machine handles assignment → en-route → resolved with auto-recovery on timeout.
